New! English Equitation Tips! From Paradise! Enjoy!
What's a matter, bends like a 2 by 4, corners like a truck? I'm sure you've heard this expression before! Well, to start off, get your horse on the rail. If that's your problem, and Mr. Ed isn't responding to your inside leg, place your hip slightly to the outside and lift your hands a LITTLE. If you're squeezing with the inside, and your body is slightly to the outside, your horse HAS to forget about his "imaginary barrel racing days." Trust me, this works! Tested on an ex-race thoroughbred, Rhondi!
Next you need to hold your inside rein. But remember to keep in mind being "engaged, or on the bridle," is not the same as yanking your horse's head to the inside. Be sure to remember BALANCE, a very important thing. Especially hold the outside rein through your corners, as well as balance in your outside stirrup.
